ONE Book Talk: Julia Watson, Lo—TEK Water
ONE Architecture & Urbanism is excited to host a conversation with Julia Watson, a designer and educator who is redefining the future of climate-resilient design through Indigenous knowledge systems. A leading expert in nature-based technologies, she will share the design philosophy behind her practice Lo—TEK, grounded in Traditional Ecological Knowledge.
Watson recently published her second book on the subject, Lo—TEK Water: A Field Guide for TEKnology (Taschen 2025), which, like Lo—TEK, Design by Radical Indigenism (Taschen 2019), challenges dominant narratives around sustainability and offers Indigenous and local knowledge as essential solutions to today’s ecological crises. The book will serve as the jumping-off point for her presentation, followed by a conversation with ONE Principal Justine Shapiro-Kline and the audience.
Copies of Lo—TEK Water: A Field Guide for TEKnology will be available for purchase.
