The Capital Studios building of the ARD, one of the leading state-funded media institutions in Germany, occupies a central position on the River Spree opposite the Berlin Reichstagsgebäude (Parliament). The aura and the character of the new building reflect the importance of this institution, it is solid and self-assured with an unexaggerated seriousness. In the urban mesh it serves to both stabilise and augment a historic city block.
