In Haus T, a psychiatric hospital building in Switzerland’s Münsterlingen, therapy has been given a new look in terms of spaces, atmosphere and materials. When you enter the new building in the Münsterlingen hospital area, you immediately feel that it was built differently. No cold clinic hallways, no aseptic surfaces. Instead, there is wood, light and pleasant order. Within the existing complex, the new structure sits between the former pathology wing and the community centre, setting a new standard for how to approach sensitive healthcare buildings. The wooden building’s entire atmosphere is defined not only by its compact shape, but also by its largely visible support structure.
