A house with a view to the sea

This is a retirement house on a hill at the southern tip of Izu. Since the view to the sea is blocked by a natural forest at the ground level, we proposed a one-story house raised to the second floor on three legs. The middle leg is the entrance and staircase. The rest of the house is used as a warehouse for scuba diving and farming tools, which are longtime hobbies of the family, and the space between the two is used as a garage. Because of the secluded location with few residents, the living space on the second floor is open to both the ocean side and the mountain side. The house is a place where one can directly feel the changing seasonal scenery and sunlight, and enjoy cooking fish caught in the nearby sea and vegetables grown on the farm, thus enjoying the great blessings of nature.
