Nishi-Shinjuku Parkside Clinic

Interior design for a clinic specializing in diabetes and endocrinology, located in a building adjacent to an urban park.
Stepping out of the elevator reveals a spacious area enclosed by glass walls approximately 2 meters deep, opening generously toward the city. The waiting area is positioned within this expansive, open space facing the street.

The waiting area is not necessarily confined to the purpose of “waiting.” It is a place where one can freely spend time as they wish—reading a book, watching TV—utilizing the “waiting” time, akin to a park-like setting.
Furthermore, the space housing the waiting area, due to its shallow depth, allows passersby on the street to glimpse inside despite being on the third floor. From the waiting area side, one can also feel the urban bustle up close, creating an atmosphere belonging to both the city and the interior.
As an interior, the design intended to preserve this dual atmosphere while creating a state where the sense of belonging shifts, influenced by the changing transparency of the glass throughout the day.
