Room Composition 2026

The Ambiente Living area presents solutions for every interior concept and style. Furniture design is as much a platform here as classic furnishing ideas, lighting, and decor trends. Since 2025, Living has been expanded to include the curated Interior Looks area (Hall 3.1), which brings together high-quality furniture and furnishing brands. The Ambiente consumer goods fair provides a platform for discovering which colors, materials, and shapes will be setting the trends in interior design in 2026. It shows how room compositions—which definitely call for character and bold approaches—can evoke a sense of well-being, create a harmonious and inviting atmosphere, preserve identity, or create a spatial experience, especially in the hospitality sector. Trade visitors are invited to explore the latest trends across the global product range and be inspired by the dynamic interplay of the product and design worlds within the Dining, Living, and Giving areas. With its qualified range of formats, Ambiente also addresses forward-looking meta-themes such as circular construction, AI, and New Work.

As a new feature, the fair is presenting the Interior Design & Architecture Hub in Hall 3.1, designed by Ambiente Designer 2026 Katty Schiebeck. The Academy integrated into this area offers certified lecture and training programs that are of particular interest to architects, interior designers, and contract furnishers. Hall 3.1 is also home to the curated Interior Looks area, which presents the new styles in skillfully arranged "shop windows"—from furniture and lighting to home textiles. Equally inspiring is the material show, “At the Table with Nature,” for healthy and sustainable building materials.

For Ambiente Trends 26+, the experts from the bora.herke.palmisano style agency take a look into the future and formulate three trend worlds: brave, light, and solid. Design is increasingly understood not only as a means of designing spaces, but as a fundamental tool for positive change. (Photo: © Messe Frankfurt)
Interior Design & Architecture Hub in Hall 3.1

Katty Schiebeck has designed the new Interior Design & Architecture Hub for the trade fair as an immersive experience combining tranquility, emotion, and design. The Ambiente Designer for 2026—one of the most influential voices in contemporary interior design—has created a place where hospitality is reinterpreted. The Barcelona-based interior designer of Uruguayan origin has created a walk-in installation that, in her words, "radiates calm in the midst of the lively trade fair atmosphere—an oasis where visitors can pause, breathe, reconnect and recharge. Designing hospitality means creating experiences that live on beyond the space." Her concept for Ambiente 2026—for which she uses selected exhibitor products—was born out of her broader interpretation of hospitality, which for Katty Schiebeck is "at its core, an experience—it means creating environments that awaken emotions, touch people and remain in their memories. Our goal is to design spaces that appeal to all senses, surprise, and convey a sense of comfort."

Katty Schiebeck, one of the most influential voices in contemporary interior design, is the Ambiente Designer for 2026. Her projects combine minimalist lines, sculptural geometry, and fine materials. In doing so, she brings a pleasant warmth and quiet elegance to spaces where beauty and function coexist in perfect balance. (Photo: © Katty Schiebeck Studio | provided by Messe Frankfurt)
Architecture Days on Saturday and Sunday: Certified Lecture and Training Program

The aforementioned Academy (Hall 3.1 | C10) is integrated into the Interior Design & Architecture Hub and enriches the discourses on space, design, and architecture on all days of the fair with a variety of event formats. The Architect Days, organized by World-Architects in collaboration with Messe Frankfurt, will take place on Saturday and Sunday. Participants can look forward to eight expert lectures by renowned architects and designers, supplemented by guided tours. All lectures and tours will be simultaneously translated into English.

With his passion for visionary products and spaces that deal with civilization-related and futuristic themes, Werner Aisslinger (studio aisslinger, Berlin) will kick off this free series of events with "Beyond Work" on Saturday at 11:30 am. At 12:15 pm, Sascha Arnold (Arnold/Werner Architekten, Munich) will analyze today's understanding of hospitality and pose the provocative question: Are we planning without considering the user?

The series continues at 2 pm, when Franziska Lang (pedevilla architekten, Bruneck) will convey the studio's approach and philosophy with "Designing Home: How hotel buildings in the Alpine region preserve their regional identity." Sophie Pfeffer (destilat Design Studio, Vienna) will conclude the expert panel with her experience on “Rethinking Materials: Product development as the key to unique hospitality experiences.”

Sunday kicks off at 11:30 am, when Barbara Wiethoff (JOI-Design, Hamburg) will advocates the approach that rooms can be seen as a third skin: sensitive, protective, and full of resonance. Her lecture will address the emotional responsibility of interior design and how emotion becomes a timeless design principle that goes far beyond trends. At 12:15 pm, Dieter Brell (co-founder and creative director of 3deluxe, Wiesbaden) will take over with "Symbiotic Environments: Hospitality in the field of tension between low-tech and AI."

The afternoon belongs to Sigurd Larsen (Sigurd Larsen Design, Berlin) from 2 pm. In his lecture "Building a hotel means creating an experience," he highlights the factors that must interact to create an unforgettable hospitality experience. Finally, at 2:45 pm, Rene Rauls and Moritz Köhler (Studio Komo Interior Designers, Stuttgart) will speak about “Emotional Intelligence: Why it appears quietly and resonates for a long time – How Studio Komo designs spaces with feeling & listening.”

Guided designer tours for a more immersive experience

Insights into hospitality concepts that are unlikely to be gained in passing are promised by the guided designer tours offered by World-Architects to selected exhibitors in the Interior Living and HoReca areas in Halls 3.1 and 11.0 as part of the expert presentations. The Short Walks will take place on Saturday and Sunday from 1 pm to 2 pm, followed by a coffee break, and the Guided Tours will take place on both days from 3:30 pm to 5 pm. The meeting point is also stand C10 in Hall 3.1.

Special Show on 25 years of "Talents": Focus on Young International Designers

What drives young design? Which approaches will shape designs in the future? These are questions that have lost none of their relevance over time. Since 2001, the “Talents” program by Messe Frankfurt has been promoting young international designers who provide strong and clear impulses for the product world of the future. To mark its 25th anniversary, Messe Frankfurt is bringing together the works of former Talents, now internationally established designers, as well as emerging new participants in an interdisciplinary future lab. The special presentation can be seen in the Interior Design Hall 3.1 in the Ambiente Living area.
