Engaging with 'Worlding Practices'
Watch curator James Taylor-Foster give a brief video introduction to Worldglimpsing: Roleplay and the Design of Alternate Realities, currently on display at ArkDes in Stockholm and the first installment in a two-exhibition series from ArkDes and Nieuwe Instituut that “[shines a] light on the ways in which we inhabit our reality through designed worlds.”
Worldglimpsing: Roleplay and the Design of Alternate Realities presents a number of experimental works to “[foreground] roleplay and worlding as civic and political acts through which we can all imagine, speculate, and embody different futures.” The exhibition, on display at ArkDes until the end of August, allows visitors to partake in passive and active experiences and, through OUR BROOD by OMSK Social Club, immerse themselves in an extensive specially commissioned roleplay. Taylor-Foster's comments in the video below give a brief taste of these different levels of engagement. The second Worldglimpsing exhibition, also curated by James Taylor-Foster, will open at the Nieuwe Instituut in Rotterdam this fall.
